Employers can respond to student messages via your email client (from the notification email received). This feature is available to all employer users.
When a student messages you, a notification email is generated to the email address on your account. Click the red button View the Message and Reply to generate a new email response in your email client.
The email you send will be automatically added to the appropriate message thread in Handshake, and you'll be able to view the message about 5 minutes after it's sent.
Links and signatures are included, but please note that the following items are not supported:
- formatting or automatic linking (through HTML tags)
- using Handshake templates in your reply via email
- Automated replies (outside of OOO)
- CC’ing additional users
- Adding images or attachments
- generating a new message (you can only respond to messages sent to you)
The notification email details are:
From: "Handshake <handshake@notifications.joinhandshake.co.uk>"
Subject: "You have a new message from STUDENT NAME"
Content:
"You have a new notification
Hello YOUR NAME,
You have a new message from STUDENT NAME
student's full message displayed
View the Message and Reply (RED BUTTON)
You can also reply directly from this email
Respond to this message by simply replying to this email any time within 6 months of receiving it.
Note: Candidates will receive a plain text version of your response. For security purposes any images, links, fonts, and other such formatting will be removed.
Thank you,
The Handshake Team"
New message notification setting
This feature is dependent on having new message notification emails enabled. To double-check the setting, click on your name in the upper-right corner of Handshake, then click User Settings and select Notification Preferences. Scroll down to Messages, and ensure that "I am sent a new message" is checked.
Note: If the setting is checked, and you are still not receiving the notification emails, please contact our Support Team to check if your email has been unsubscribed from Handshake emails.
