On Handshake, you can close a job that is no longer active and for which you are no longer recruiting.
Your ability to close a job depends on your employer account type and whether you created the job posting.
-
Basic employers: Owners and Recruiters can only close jobs they have personally created. Jobs posted by teammates will appear as view-only and cannot be closed.
To close jobs you did not create, you must upgrade to an eligible paid plan.
On-campus employers, Plus, Pro, Essentials and TES customers: All users, except Representatives, can close jobs created by themselves or by teammates, provided they have the appropriate permissions.
Close job posting
1. Click Jobs from the left navigation bar, then click the More options menu (the three dots) to the far right of the job posting you want to close. From there, select Close.
- Alternatively, you may click the More options menu (the three dots) in the upper-right corner of the job posting page, then select Close job.
2. In the pop-up modal, click the black button Close job to confirm that you want to close the job at all schools.
- If the job is linked to any interview schedules, you will need to manually close the job at those schools by editing the interview dates.
3. Once the job is closed, the Overview tab on the job posting page will refresh to display the closing date.
The page will display the message "Students can't apply to this job at this time. It has closed at all schools where it was posted."
- To view your applicants, click the black button View applicants.
- To renew this job, click the white button Edit close date.
After the job closes, students at the schools where it was posted will no longer be able to view it.
Note: If the job still appears active right after you close it, the system may still be updating. Refresh the page. If it remains active, this brief delay is normal and should resolve once the update completes.
