When you are invited to join your company on Handshake as an Advocate, you will need to register, confirm your account, and complete an onboarding form.
Completing the form thoroughly maximizes the quality of the interactions and connections you build.

Step 1: Open your invitation
There are two types of invitations you may receive:
Unique invitation link
Open the email titled Confirm your email address on Handshake, then follow steps 1–6 in Create an Employer User Account, Join a Company, and Connect with Schools. When finished, complete onboarding.
Staff member invitation email
Open the email titled You have been added as a staff member and continue to Step 2.
Step 2: Confirm your account
In the invitation email, click Confirm My Account.
You will be directed to create a password.
Password requirements
At least eight characters
-
Must include characters from two of these three groups:
Alphabetic (A–Z, a–z)
Numeric (0–9)
Symbols or punctuation
Note: Passwords are not encrypted.
Enter and confirm your password, then click the black Confirm Account button.
Step 3: Review and accept the Terms
Select the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy links to open and review each page.
Check the box for I agree to the Terms of Service and have read the Privacy Policy.
Click the black Continue button to proceed.
Step 4: Complete your onboarding form
Fill out each section as thoroughly as possible to help optimize your interactions with candidates.
Note: Fields that cannot be edited are disabled and appear grayed out.
You can save progress anytime by clicking Log out in the upper-right corner.
Work experience
Add:
Job title
Start month and year
Description (optional) describing your projects and day to day
Click Add experience to include more entries, then click the black Next button.
Education
Add:
School
Graduation year
Education level (optional)
Major (optional)
Description (optional)
Click Add education to include more entries, then click the black Next button.
Final touches
Add a profile photo and a headline.
To upload a photo:
Click Edit photo
Select Upload photo
Adjust zoom and click Save
Click the black Finish button to complete onboarding. You will be directed to your Handshake profile.
