Your company profile is a vital tool for showcasing your brand to prospective talent. It helps you build credibility, promote your organization, and highlight what makes your company unique.
To create a company profile, you must have a user account. If you haven’t created one yet, refer to Create a User Account, Join a Company, and Connect with Schools.

Email domain already taken
When attempting to create a new company profile, you may encounter the following message: "The email domain you used to sign up with (@example.com) has already been taken. Please go back and select an existing company, or contact us for additional help to create a new company."
This message appears when the email domain you're using is already associated with an existing company profile on Handshake.
At this time, Handshake only allows one company profile per email domain by default. However, if your organization is a franchise, has multiple locations, or operates under different entities, our team can open an additional domain space to allow you to create a separate company profile for your specific branch or location.
To proceed with creating a new company profile, contact Support.
Common errors when creating a company profile
If you encounter the error message “An error has occurred. Please refresh the page and try again” while creating your company profile, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Confirm all required fields are complete, especially the website URL. Double-check the format to ensure it's valid.
- Use a supported browser, such as the latest version of Chrome or Firefox. To view supported browsers, refer to Handshake Supported Browsers (for Employers).
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, which can help resolve issues caused by outdated or corrupted data.
- Open Handshake in an incognito or private browsing window to bypass any extensions or saved settings that might be interfering.
If the error continues after following these steps, contact Support.
