The feed on Handshake is a place where you can share content with other users on the platform, as well as find career-related posts by fellow peers, employers, and your career services department. This exchange of knowledge between users can be incredibly empowering while exploring ones career path.
The feed may consist of text, images, videos, and links.

How to post content
You can post content to Handshake's feed via your desktop or mobile app!
Desktop
1. Click Feed on the left navigation menu.
2. Click on the box Share something with the community..., located at the top-center of the page.
If you've never posted to the feed before, you'll receive a pop-up encouraging you to share your first post — Click the button Got it to proceed.
You can post content in the form of text, images, video, and links.
Text
In the pop-up that appears, click the link text post, located in the lower-left corner within the sentence "write a text post instead".
Click in the text field and begin typing your message. Once your text is added, review your content and confirm it's what you want to share, then click the button Post to share to the feed on Handshake!
Image/Video
In the pop-up that appears, click the button Choose file or drag and drop your image or video into the drag-and-drop field to be uploaded.
While the content loads, a “processing" image is displayed within the center of the pop-up with a spinner — this may take a few moments to upload.
Once the image or video is uploaded, it will appear within the content box.
To add alt text, click the button Add alt text, located in the lower-right corner of your uploaded content. In the text space below your content, describe your image or video to those with image impairments. To save, click the button Save! A check mark in the lower-left corner will indicate that alt text has been added.
To remove the uploaded media, click the X in the upper-right corner of the upload.
When you're ready to share, click the button Post!
Links
Any content posted to the feed on Handshake can include hyperlinks. When added, the post will show a preview associated with the link.
- If your post includes multiple links, the last link will take preview precedence.
- If your post includes a video, the video will take preview precedence.
Mobile
1. Tap Feed, located in the lower-left corner of the screen.
2. Tap the + icon, located in the lower-right corner of the screen.
3. Type the content you wish to share in the provided space.
- To upload a video, click on the video camera icon.
- To upload an image, click on the picture icon.
How to change your content audience
By default, all users on Handshake will have access to your posts through the feed. To change your audience, click on the eye icon, located below your name.
In the pop-up that appears, select who can access your post, Everyone or People at your school, then click the button Done.
How to delete a post
If you would like to remove a post, you may do so at anytime via your desktop.
Click your icon, located in the upper-right corner of the screen on Handshake, then click My profile from the dropdown.
Once on your profile, click Posts, located to the right of About, below your header information.
All posts are listed, with the most recent at the top and the oldest at the bottom. Navigate to the post you want to delete, then click the three dots menu, located to the right of your post. From the dropdown, click Delete.
Within the pop-up, confirm you want to permanently remove the post by clicking the red button Delete, or click Cancel to cancel.
