Exclusions allow senders to further filter the audience of their campaigns beyond the set of filters applied to a segment.

Campaign exclusions
You can apply exclusions in the Define audience section of the campaign form.
The exclusions set in the form apply to both the initial campaign send and the follow-up campaign. Most exclusions are optional and can be combined in any way you prefer.
Types of campaigns exclusions
You can optionally apply various types of exclusions to your campaign. However, some Handshake exclusions are applied by default.
Default exclusions (applied to all campaigns by default)

Recently messaged
- Excludes recipients who have received a message from the campaign creator in the last 48 hours, or who have muted you (cannot be opted out of).
- Students who are not seeking job opportunities
- Excludes recipients who are not seeking job opportunities (can be toggled).
Optional exclusions

Applied to a job
- Excludes recipients who have recently applied to a job posted by your company on Handshake. The time frame for this exclusion can be 1, 3, 6, or 12 months.

Received a message (from you or teammates)
- Excludes recipients who have received a message from you (campaign creator) or any other teammate on Handshake. The time frame for this exclusion can be 1, 3, 6, or 12 months.

Employer labels
- Excludes recipients that have any custom labels attached to their profile by your company on Handshake.
Follow-up campaign exclusions
You can apply exclusions to the follow-up message in the Write message section of the campaign form.

Exclude students who replied to this campaign (optional)
- Excludes recipients who have already responded to the initial campaign message.

Exclude original job posting attachment (only displays in job form campaigns)
- Prevents the job posting attachment from being included.
