Ready to apply for a job or internship in Handshake? Follow the steps below to get familiar with job postings in Handshake and submit your application!

1. Access the job you'd like to apply for via the Jobs or Saved tab by clicking Jobs on the left navigation menu.
The jobs overview page will display by default. To view any previously saved jobs, click Saved in the upper-left corner of the page.
2. Click on a job to load its full details page, which includes key information about the job under the "About the role" section. The information listed may include:
- Application Deadline
- Take note of this deadline if you plan to apply for the job later! Save the job by clicking the bookmark icon — this provides an automated reminder to apply before the deadline. Refer to My Saved Jobs in Handshake for additional information.
- Estimated Pay
- If the employer includes a pay, it'll be presented as an exact number or a range.
- Note: for jobs that are posted in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington, the pay amount will be required.
- If the employer includes a pay, it'll be presented as an exact number or a range.
- See if this job is right for you
- If the employer is open to receiving messages or scheduling a virtual info chat about the role, the employer's information will be displayed. Learn more in Virtual Chats with Employers.
- Ask a peer about their experience
- Message-able students that are currently working, or have worked at the company will be displayed. Learn more about messaging peers from an active job post in Peer Messaging in Handshake.
- Upcoming events
- If the employer is attending a career fair or hosting an event at your school, the details will be displayed. Click on the name of the event to be directed to the registration page.

- If the employer is attending a career fair or hosting an event at your school, the details will be displayed. Click on the name of the event to be directed to the registration page.
- Candidate preferences selected by the employer
- Preference matching is based on information in your Handshake profile. If this is incorrect, learn how to make updates:
- Curated employers at your school
- If the employer or job is a part of a curated collection, a badge will identify it. For more information, refer to Curated Employers At Your School.
- Reviews about working for this company
- Learn more about reviews in Reviews in Handshake.
3. Click on Quick Apply, Apply Externally, or Apply as applicable for that particular job.
- Quick Apply indicates you meet all employer preferences and either:
- There's no document required.
- There is only one document required (a resume), and you have at least one approved or pending resume uploaded.

- Apply Externally indicates the employer is using an external site to collect applications. Additional action is required outside of Handshake to complete your application.

- Apply appears if one or more of the following are true:
- If you don't meet all of the employer preferences
- If at least one document is required and you don't have any documents uploaded
- If more than one document is required
- If you are accessing a job via Saved that has an external application.
4. Select your resume or other document(s), complete any additional required actions, and Submit Application.
After clicking Apply, a pop-up will appear with details about the application.
If a document is required, you can either:
- Choose from all existing documents in Handshake by clicking the dropdown menu.
- Choose one of your two most Recently Added documents.
- Upload a new document at this time by clicking the blue button Upload New.
If a document isn't required, the popup will confirm no additional documents are required and you may submit the application by clicking the green button Submit Application, located in the lower-right corner of the popup.
