On the Manage students page, you'll notice the Participation and Engagement Data listed at the top of the page. Let's take some time to review what this information is and how you can utilize filters to drill down on specific information.
To begin, select Manage from your left navigation bar, located under the Students section.
Participation
This section of data is split between two subsections:
- Activated: if a student has accepted ToS
- Completed profile: if the student has at least 70% of their account completed
If you select the Participation filter, the following options appear:
-
Activation
- Has activated
- Has not activated
-
Profile
- Completed profile
- Not completed
Engagement
This section of data is a little more straight forward, it is split into four subsections:
- Submitted an application: if a student has submitted an application through a job posting on Handshake
- Attended fair: if a student attended a fair on Handshake
- Attended appointment: if a student attended an appointment on Handshake
- Attended event: if a student attended an event on Handshake
If you select the Engagement filter, the following options appear:
-
Applications
- Has submitted
- Has not submitted
-
Appointments
- Attended
- Not attended
-
Fairs
- Attended
- Not attended
-
Events
- Attended
- Not attended
- Within the last ___ months: You can modify this when you select one of the above engagement filters
Note: the date range under the Engagement filter will not impact the Participation data. This is because participation always considers "all-time" data rather than a specific range of time.
Hide or Show Analytics
If you prefer to have a more compact viewing of the Manage students page, you can always choose to hide this data, by clicking Hide Analytics on the top-right corner of the Participation and Engagement data information.
Note: If you refresh the page or go to another section of Handshake and return back to the Manage students page, the analytics will revert back to being shown instead of hidden.
After hiding the data, to show the data again, click Show Analytics located in the same area.
Applying additional filters
You can apply any other filters to help narrow your search. The data will update in real-time. For example, I selected Freshman under the School Year filter and Accounting as a major under the Filters option. This returns different data results in the Participation and Engagement sections at the top of the Manage students page:
Try different filters to achieve different data results!
Remember, this isn't the only data that you can find about your students' activity and participation on Handshake. You're welcome to use the Student Activity Dashboard to view more specific data for each student: About the Student Activity Dashboard. The Student Engagement Tracker is also a great place to track data: Analytics: Student Engagement Tracker & Reporting.
