Messaging allows you to engage directly with participants at the fair, making it easier to build connections and ensure you have a productive career fair experience. Here are some ways you can benefit from messaging:
- Inviting candidates to book a 1:1 chat: Combine this with labels to let specific candidates know you’d like to speak with them.
- Promoting your booth: If you have a booth, send a message before the fair to inform candidates you’ll be there and encourage them to stop by for a chat. Refer to Using Labels to Preselect Students for 1:1 Chats for more on this process.
- Following up with candidates: Share next steps, such as applying for a job or scheduling an interview.
Note: Sometimes the organiser does not allow you to contact candidates pre-fair. In this case you will not see any candidates in the list.
1. Navigate to the fair's page and click on the Candidates tab. Use the checkboxes to select the candidates you’d like to message, then click the white button Message candidates located to the top of the list.
2. The message modal now pops-up, which allows you to type a message to the selected candidate(s). Once complete, click the black button Send to send your message.
- If you contact a candidate with a Handshake account, the message will be sent directly to their Handshake inbox.
- If you contact a candidate without a Handshake account, the message will be sent to the personal email address that they used to check-in to the fair. For more information on this process, please consult Messaging Candidates without Handshake Profiles.
