If you can no longer attend an event you registered for, you can unregister directly in Handshake or through an external link, depending on how you originally registered.
If you’re not sure how you registered, begin with the Directly in Handshake steps below.
Directly in Handshake
1. Click Events in the left navigation menu, then click the calendar icon labeled Registered in the upper-right corner of the page to view your registered events.
2. Your registered events will appear in a panel on the right side of the screen. Click the event you want to unregister for.
3. On the event page, click Unregister at the bottom of the registration panel on the right, next to "Can't make the event?"
4. The Register button will reappear, confirming you have been unregistered.
Note: If Unregister is not available and Set as unregistered appears instead, the event host used an external registration page. Follow the steps for Through an external link.
Through an external link
If Set as unregistered appears on the event page, the event registration was completed through an external link.
1. First, confirm whether the event is hosted by your school or an employer. The host is listed above the event name on the event page.
- If the event is hosted by your school, contact your Career Services center for help canceling your external registration.
- If the event is hosted by an employer, contact Support for help canceling your external registration.
2. After your external registration is canceled, return to the event page in Handshake and click Set as unregistered at the bottom of the registration panel on the right, next to "Not going?"
3. In the pop-up that appears asking "Did you unregister for this event?", click Yes.
Important: Clicking Yes updates your registration status in Handshake only. Complete this step only after your external registration has been canceled.
4. The Register button will reappear, confirming that your registration status was removed in Handshake.
