If an employer on Handshake shares a public event link with you and you don't have a Handshake account yet, you can still register and attend by joining as a guest.
If you already have a Handshake account, refer to Registering for an Event.
Register as a guest
1. Open the event link shared by the employer.
2. Under Don't have a Handshake account? on the right side of the page, click Register as a guest.
3. In the Complete Registration pop-up that appears, enter the following information:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
- Confirm Email Address
Note: A personal email address is required. If you register with a .edu email address, an error will appear below the Email Address field: "Please use a personal (non-edu) email to register as a guest. If you have a Handshake account associated with a .edu email, you can log in below."
4. Check the box to agree to Handshake's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Note: This step is required to register and participate in the event, even though you're not creating an account.
5. When finished, click the blue Continue button.
Confirm your email
1. A confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided.
The confirmation email includes the following:
From: handshake@notifications.joinhandshake.com
Subject: Complete your registration for [EVENT NAME]
Body: "You're almost done. Once you confirm your email below, you can then complete your registration for [event name] on the event page."
If you don't receive the confirmation email within 30 to 45 minutes, click Resend email.
Tip: Because this is an automated message, you may also want to check your bulk or spam folder if it does not appear in your inbox.
2. In the confirmation email, click the black Confirm Email button.
3. On the event overview page, click the blue Register button in the upper-right corner to finish registering.
Attend the event
After clicking Register, a registration confirmation email will be sent to you. This email is your e-ticket for the event.
The registration email will include the following::
From: handshake@notifications.joinhandshake.com
Subject: Your e-ticket to [EVENT NAME]
Body: "Get ready to attend — [EVENT NAME]. [DAY, DATE, TIME + TIMEZONE]. This email is your ticket. On the day of the event, use the button below to join. Note: The video link will be enabled 5 minutes before the start time."
You can join up to 5 minutes before the start time. Click the black Join Event button in the registration email, or click the blue Join event button on the event page to launch the video session in a new browser tab.
