When requesting an interview schedule at an institution, the interview timelines displayed are what that institution supports. Handshake provides some basic timelines for institutions, which may be customised, based on the the three types of schedules described below.
Choose an option that best suits your needs, but if you prefer a timeline schedule that isn't available, contact the institution to partner on a solution!
Room Only
A room will be reserved in Handshake, but the interview setup and slots will be managed by you outside of Handshake.
You can select from applicants in Handshake for this interview schedule, but they will not be able to take slots in Handshake.
Open
Specify an application period that enables students who meet the qualifications to take slots. Qualifications are established via your preferences on the job posting.
- If the applicant's profile and primary education information meets the preferences, they will be able to take a slot immediately after applying.
- Applicants that do not match the preferences will be marked as Pending and will need to be manually updated to Primary in order to signup.
Preselect
Distinct application period followed by a separate interview signup period for Primary and Alternate candidates.
After the application period has ended, you will select Primary and Alternate candidates from the students who applied. To help ensure that your most promising candidates are able to find an acceptable interview slot:
- Candidates you designate as “Primary” are allowed to sign up any time after the primary signup start.
- Candidates you designate as “Alternate” are allowed to sign up any time after the alternate signup date.
