Handshake imports high-quality roles from publicly available sources such as job boards and employer career sites. This helps students discover more relevant opportunities on Handshake without needing to search elsewhere.
The goal is to fill gaps in job availability by providing accessible roles for students while enabling employers to extend their reach on Handshake.
Note: At this time, imported jobs are limited to Basic employers.
Which jobs are imported?
- Prioritized roles: Imported roles focus on early-career opportunities that are valuable to students but less common on Handshake. These roles align with student interests and qualifications and are matched to employers who already have a Handshake presence.
- Quality standards: Only jobs where all required details can be reliably parsed from the public posting are imported.
If an imported job looks suspicious or out of place, contact Support.
Where are imported jobs posted?
Imported jobs are only posted at schools where the role meets job auto-approval criteria.
How to find and take ownership of imported jobs
Imported jobs appear directly on the Jobs page in Handshake. By default, they do not have an assigned owner.
Any user connected to the company profile can take ownership by setting themselves as the job owner.
Taking ownership allows your team to manage, edit, and oversee the posting. For more information, refer to How to Take Ownership of an Imported Job Posting.
How to view imported job details
All job details can be reviewed on the Jobs page in Handshake. From your jobs list, open a posting to view the imported information exactly as students will.
How are employers notified of imported jobs?
Handshake does not send notifications when jobs are imported. Imported jobs will always appear on the Jobs page, where you can review, manage, or close them at any time.
How do candidates apply to imported jobs?
Candidates can view full job details on Handshake, but applications are always completed externally on the employer's career site.
The application link in Handshake directs students to the original posting, ensuring they apply through the most accurate and up-to-date source.
